Every provider is vetted

Before joining our network, all providers undergo a police check, reference check, and review of their reputation and experience working with older clients. We only work with people we would trust with our own family.

🏥

Trusted by local health professionals

GPs, physiotherapists, and community health workers across New Zealand refer their patients to us. That professional confidence is something we take seriously and work hard to maintain every day.

🤝

What we heard

Shaped by real conversations with older New Zealanders

Before building Independence, we went out and listened. We spoke with older people and their families across New Zealand about what support really looks like in practice. Here is what they told us.

1
🏡

"People want to stay living in their own home for as long as possible, but need the right support to do so safely and confidently."

Independence was built for this. We coordinate trusted local support around you — so staying home isn't just a wish, it's a well-supported reality.
2
🔍

"Finding reliable, trusted help is difficult, time consuming and often frustrating."

We do that work for you. Every provider in our network is police-checked, reference-checked, and personally vetted before they set foot in your home.
3
👨‍👩‍👧

"Managing multiple services and providers creates stress, especially for families coordinating support from a distance."

One call. One team. Everything handled. Independence coordinates all your services through a single trusted contact — so families can stay informed without carrying the load.

Independence is the answer to every one of these challenges. Built by listening. Designed to last.

No — not at all. The most common way people get started is a simple phone call to 027 325 9707. We'll ask you a few questions, understand what you need, and arrange everything from there. You don't need any technology to use Independence. If you do have family members who'd like to be involved online, they can manage things through our website — but that's completely optional.
This is the question we take most seriously. Every provider in our network goes through a police check, reference checks from previous clients, and a review of their reputation and experience working with older people — before we allow them to work with any of our clients. We also monitor quality after every job through follow-up feedback. If a provider doesn't meet our standards, they leave our network. We only work with people we would trust in our own family's home.
We are currently growing our network across New Zealand, focusing on our four core services — home cleaning, gardening and outdoor maintenance, handyman and home maintenance, and fitness and mobility. If you're not sure whether we cover your area yet, just call us on 027 325 9707 and we'll be honest with you about what we can arrange.
The initial conversation and any home visit from our team is completely free. After that, you pay for the services you use — there are no lock-in contracts and no monthly fees required. A small coordination fee applies to each booking (we'll always tell you exactly what you'll pay before anything is confirmed). For clients who use services regularly, we also offer an optional subscription that can reduce overall costs — but this is never required.
Absolutely — and many of our clients do. Family members can be as involved as you'd like them to be. They can call us directly, be copied into communications, or manage bookings on your behalf through our website. Everything happens with your knowledge and permission. You stay in control of what your family can see and do.
Just call us. That's what we're here for. We follow up after every job — so if something isn't right, we often find out before you even need to raise it. If you are ever unhappy with a provider, we'll sort it out: find a replacement, issue a refund if appropriate, and make sure it doesn't happen again. There are no complicated complaints processes — just one phone call to the same person who booked it in the first place.
Because doing fewer things exceptionally well is better than doing many things adequately. Our four services — home cleaning, gardening, handyman maintenance, and fitness and mobility — are the four things that matter most for staying safely and happily at home. By focusing here, we can vet our providers more carefully, coordinate more reliably, and guarantee a consistently high standard. We would rather be genuinely excellent at what matters most than spread ourselves thin.
Our research and experience shows clearly that physical strength and mobility are the single most important factor in whether someone can continue living independently at home. A clean, safe home matters enormously — but if someone loses the strength to get up from a chair or the balance to walk safely, no amount of cleaning or gardening changes that. That is why we treat fitness and mobility as essential, not optional — and why we have built it into our core offering rather than leaving it as an afterthought.
Yes, and it's a very popular option — especially around birthdays, Christmas, and Mother's Day. Simply call us on 027 325 9707 and tell us what you'd like to gift. We'll arrange it all and let your loved one know a gift is on the way. You don't need to be an existing client to do this.
